CELEBRATING ART CULTURE AND HERITAGE IN THE GOLDFIELDS
Over the course of a year, a group of arts professionals met monthly to explore the potential for establishing a dedicated arts organisation that could work as a hub for a wide group of satellite activities.
This new organisation would be designed specifically to spearhead arts, culture and heritage activities for arts practitioners in our local community. It was recognised that the creative lens makes a powerful contribution to community development, tourism and local economic vibrancy. To fulfil our potential our organisation would need to work collaboratively and should connect arts, culture, heritage, and our local communities.
This nascent organisation was named Creative Goldfields.
The group demonstrated an excellent capacity to work together being informed, experienced, gregarious and with a sustainable approach to creative collaboration and organisational methodology. It developed a working heads of agreement. Creative Goldfields has been very well received in the region as an organisation that members and their communities are comfortable to see contribute to their creative aspirations. Creative Goldfields has introduced itself to Regional Arts Victoria and Creative Victoria, two key state funding bodies with an excellent response from both agencies.
