CELEBRATING ART CULTURE AND HERITAGE IN THE GOLDFIELDS

Australia Council for the Arts writes “An organisation that lacks an animating sense of purpose risks being pushed and pulled in many directions…Arts organisations operate in increasingly crowded and competitive markets, with multiple partners, with different goals and performance measures, mixing commerce and cultural creativity. In such a fluid environment, stability does not come from structure but from having an enduring sense of purpose.”
Creative Victoria is seeking input from the sector for input into strategy.creative.vic.gov.au and Greg Andrews heads the Arts Sector Investment branch. There are opportunities for the Centre to seek funding from the State of Victoria. The 2015 Victorian budget has committed $202 million over 4 years in addition to $470 million in 2015-2016.

Central Goldfields Shire Council runs an excellent gallery with experienced and dedicated staff. The Council is implementing its Arts and Culture Plan supporting arts and cultural events as part of growing a deeper tourism industry.
Maryborough Butter Factory is a key component of the delivery of Creative Goldfields activities. It is centrally located within the Shires tourism precinct and next to the public transport hub. It maintains a focus on exploring humanity, inclusion and diversity through a creative lens. It is a valuable centre for the arts and creativity and is a destination for local tourism.
